Tattoo Aftercare

The healing process for your tattoo is very important. Please follow the instructions below and reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Healing Instructions:

Wear the covering your tattoo artist applied for 2- 3 hours.

Remove the bandage and wash your tattoo with fragrance free anti-biotic soap. I recommend Dial. Use your hand only, not a towel.

Apply a very thin layer of ointment. I recommend aquafore. Continue to alternate between washing and applying ointment 2-3 times a day for the first 3-5 days.

After 3-5 days, switch to a fragrance free lotion. I recommend lubriderm. Apply 1-3 times a day and wash 1-2 times a day.

Continue to be mindful of your tattoo, wear loose fitting clothing, do not submerge it in liquid of any kind for 3 weeks and do not pick, itch or touch your tattoo. Do not wear tight fitting clothing over your tattoo while healing. Do not cover your tattoo with seran wrap or apply any topical pain relievers, sunscreen or anything other than recommended ointments and lotions. Tattoo healing time is typically 3-6 weeks.

Sani-derm instructions (if applicable):

This clear, adhesive short-term bandage is meant to protect your new tattoo from bacteria, dirt and abrasion.

You may wear the bandage for 1-5 days before removing it. It is water-proof yet permeable, so you are able to shower while wearing it but be mindful that if the bandage is compromised in anyway, you will want to remove it and wash your skin.

Do not submerge your tattoo while the bandage is on. Do not swim, take a bath or allow your tattooed skin to be submerged underwater for 3 weeks minimum.

You may notice fluid build-up underneath your bandage. This is normal. If the fluid drips out from under the bandage, you will want to remove it and continue with the normal healing process.

To remove bandage, peel from one corner back over itself, not straight upward.

Once removed, wash your tattoo with fragrance free anti-bacterial soap with your hand, not with a towel. Allow it to air dry and then apply a thin layer of ointment. I recommend Aquafore. Continue to wash your tattoo 2 times a day and follow with a very light application of the ointment for 3-5 days. Switch to fragrance free lotion, I recommend lubriderm, for the next several weeks.
